Default How to Disarm EVS II Alarm/Keyless Entry with Remote Start?

I need some serious help and I’m sure there are some knowledgeable guys here that could offer some assistance!
I have a ‘98 Dodge Ram that I had a new battery put in last week and ever since I’ve had trouble with the alarm system. I would like to just disarm it completely while still being able to use the keyless entry and remote start. Car alarms aren’t all that necessary in my neck of the woods. I’m getting really tired of having the alarm sound when I’m getting gas, at the post office, etc. Luckily I don’t live right in town or I would have some seriously irate neighbors by now! I bought this truck about a year and a half ago and it’s got the Mopar EVS II Alarm/Keyless Entry with remote start.
I’ve called Mopar Technical Service three different times, talked to three different people who told me to try three different things, listed below, none of which have worked…
· Unplugged two clips from box under the dash then turned key on and plugged them back in
· Cycled key on and off three times
· Turned key on and pressed valet button/light
After the first try I thought I had it fixed, the alarm didn’t sound the next 2 or 3 times that I got in and drove the truck, then the alarm started going off randomly again. I can’t pinpoint what even causes the alarm to go off when it does and it’s hard to just get it turned off. After franticly pressing the lock/unlock button on my remote about 20 times is usually quits.
I have read some directions on this forum that suggest cutting some wires but I hate to take those type of drastic measures when I can’t very easily put them back together once it’s done. And I didn’t have any problems with this before I got the new battery so I don’t figure that cutting any wires is the answer.
I’ve also tried calling the local Dodge dealer but they have yet to return my call and I imagine it would be a few weeks before I could get in and I wouldn’t doubt if they charge me and arm and a leg, that is IF they could fix it! I know there’s got to be some people here with some similar real life experiences with this! Please help, I don’t know how much longer I can stand the embarrassment, it’s a really hideous sounding alarm!

I think your going to have trouble getting info.
Ive installed a few of those EVS systems but that was a long time ago and as I remember they weren't great.
Is the power locks and remote start all part of this EVS system? Or have you got several different systems in there.
Unfortunately these EVS systems are not common and probably only a dealer tech would know anything about it.

Maybe Parts/Service could help you. He's a service/parts manager at a Chrysler dealer.

oh that sucks.ive always herd to hook up another battery,or car charger to the vehiclewhile changeing the batt. when you have a alarm system.this is not the first time i herd a story like this.the best answer i could give is to try and reset it like this.disconnect +pos on battery wait 5-10 min turn key to on possition, leaving key in the on possition reconnect batt.this proseger you did with the service tech is simular, but you just reset that on componet, this will reset everything together and hopefully, just hopfully ,should work.make sure you let use no the results.

Thanks for the replies so far. I'm guessing that the truck had the remote starter installed later and the EVS II alarm/keyless entry came with the truck from the factory. I would just love to get the alarm system turned off completely, it wasn't armed before I had the new battery put in and I don't need it to be now.

Please keep the replies coming, I am at my wits end! Perhaps Parts/Service will stuble across this and add some input?

Another thing to try is to un hook both battery cables, wait 5 minutes and then touch both battery cables together.(make sure that when you touch them together that they ARE NOT hooked to the battery). This will reset the module, now hook the batery cables back up and see what happens....

As long as the alarm doesn't keep you from starting/driving the truck, just cut the wire to the horn. When I bought my truck it was a year old and had an alarm on it and the dumb salseman didn't know why the lights were blinking. After I got it I replaced the ground wire on the siren and it works. On mine once I hid the valet switch it doesn't activate again until I hit the valet to turn it back on. And yes it is a pain to get gas and realize the key is in the truck and you hear a chirp. Then you see how quick you can open the door and grap the button. Some alarms are set up to passive arm and or button only arm. Without knowing which kind it's hard to do more than guess. The one on the truck is Alpine and the car has Viper.

Hi guys,

I'll try the possible solution that involves the battery tonight. I'll keep you posted!

Thanks!!!

Well I tried both ideas involving the battery, none of which unfortunately worked.

I had some "help" with this the last few days only to come to find out that after working on it last night that the keyless entry and remote start DO NOT work now. I was really wishing I had just done all of this myself 100% because now it's really messed up. So I took the panel off from under the dash and was going to take a look at the module and try changing some settings on it when I noticed a green chip just laying on it, it has two metal teeth coming out and the number 30 on top? Don't know what it's for but I'm sure it's supposed to go somewhere. Then as I was trying to get the module out so I could get a better look at it, sparks started flying. I wasdetermined to get something figured out but after the sparks I figured I better back off. I am throwing my hands in the air and taking it in to the Dodge dealer.

Thanks anyway for all your help!
