Default bigger engine

hey guys, do any you know what i would have to go through if i decided to drop my stock 318 and replace it with a 408 stroker? has anyone attempted this in one of our trucks?

I belive the 408 stroker is a kit. Unless you wanted to just replace yours with one already built. A bunch of people on here have done it though

Just do a search on 408 orstroker and there is a lot of info on this forum for you. One thing that is extremely important to remember though is that the 408 starts from the 360 block. The 360 is an externally balanced engine so do not attempt to re-use your 318 crankshaft damper or flexplate (if you have an automatic transmission). You must purchase replacements specifically for the 360 engine as they contain the balancing weights required for the 360 (408 stroker) to run. The parts look almost identical, but they are not interchangable between engines. For the rest of the 408 requirements you'll have to do your research.
