Default Hmm... Injector cleaning.

How could one go about cleaning a set of injectors without paying an arm and a leg or just putting something into the tank?

Anyone ever pull them out and hand clean them in a solution or anything like that? A while back my dad's van had injector issues and the dealer did something to clear it up on the spot but it wasn't just something in the tank... I don't have a clue what they did but it worked great. Anybody have a clue what to do?

I clean them with an ultrasonic bath I bought from Walmart online. $35.00 and I can clean my watch with it too. It works fantastic and I just used a bottle of Chevron Techron as the solution.

This isn't the one that I bought but looks like an upgrade:

I actually bought the other Haier model.

I have that same ultra sonic cleaner. The thing works great. The only thing I didn't like about it is how long the time can be set for. the longest time setting it has is 480 seconds or 8 minutes. Other than that it works great!!!!

I bought this one (was on sale for $19.99) and use mineral spirits as the cleaning agent. I don't know if it was this cleaning or the plenum repair i did at the same time, but my truck idles real smooth now.

+1. wal mart sells that sonic bath, pull the rail, pull the injectors, make sure you buy new o rings (there are 2 on each injector). i did mine in a bath of sea foam.

ok wait this is the 2nd time ive herd this.when i did my plenum last week i bought new o ring for the injectors, but the part store only had 2 paks in stock (4 pr pak)so i only had 8 o rings so i figured on only replaceing 1 on each injector.so when i pulled the injectors i only had 1 o ring on each, and only 1 spot.so now somthing seems fishy, any answers?

There is one o ring at the top and bottom of each injector. One seals the fuel rail, one seals the combustion chamber for each cylinder.

Looks like I'll be looking into the sonic baths. I had no idea those things were that cheap. Thanks for the advice everyone, much obliged.

just make sure to apply some fresh oil, or petrolium jelly to those o rings when reinstallin em. it took me forever to get them back in, and when i would, one would leak. Finally after the 4th time of pullin the rail and reinstalling it i got it leak free. Also, stay away from the stealership (naturally) for those o rings. They wanted $15 for 2. Advance sells felpro's that are $3 for 4. So your gonna need 16 o rings to get the job done right.
