Default How to measure exhaust tips.

I'm trying to figure out what size exhaust tips I have as I want to replace these stainless steel ones with chrome tips. I have slant cut ones that are turned sideways as you can see in the pics below. It seems like if I measure across them like what would normally be straight up and down but on mine is side to side I get about 4 and 1/2" maybe slightly more and if I measure up and down which would normally be side to side I get 3 and 1/2". Then if I measure the length the back side which is the long side is around 22" and the shorter side is around 18". What size tips are these? Any downsides to going with chrome ones besides the fact they rust? Mine atleast looked good for years. These stainless steel ones look like crap 6 months after they were put on.

Here are pics of what I'm talking about.

Get a measuring tape and measure the distance around the tip, not at the end where the slash is, just somewhere in the middle. Take that and divide it by "pi"(3.14) and you will get the diameter which will probably be close to what you measured before, but that should get you almost exact. Then I think you would go by the long end for the length dimension. So it's probably
22x(whatever you calculate). There's nothing wrong with Chrome, I'll never have Stainless tips again. As you are experiencing, they look terrible after a very short period. Just keep the chrome clean. Hope that helps.

I'd go with your up and down, and longest length measurements.

So with that said you have a 3 1/2" x 22" tip.

I'd say that is a pretty safe guess. That's probably what it is. I'd say they are either 3.5x22" or 4x22". That formula will work though. C=pi*d so
d=C/(pi) c=circumference, d=diameter, pi=3.14(approx). That's exactly what I did to figure out the size my tips were and what size piping that I had. It came out really close to; I have 3.5" tips and 2.25" piping.

Anyone know where I can get chrome tips in that size? The Hedman ones Summit sells I only see in a 4x24 and I think 24" will be too long. Anyone know if anyone makes chrome ones in this size?

They all are either too long or too short. I need one thats 22" long. I think the 24" would be too long although maybe I could just move it back on the pipe and the 18" I think will be way too short.
