Default Changing Things Up.

I have a 2000 Dodge 1500 4x4 with the 318ci 46re automatic. 3:55 gears.. I am starting to fell the pinch of having to run mid grade or better, an only getting 11-13 mpg.. I dont have a lead foot but occasionally pull a skid loader around. I was thinking of gettin a 2wd cummins.. anybody have opinions? I know that those motors are strong and get great mileage.. but at 4.09 a gallon am i saving anything? I have a 51 mile round trip to work everyday.

I would just keep your truck and buy a little 4cylinder beater for your daily commute

Diesel around here is $4.35 a gallon.
I am not sure its economical at all to drive one unless you need to tow a lot.
