10 mm socket for the 4 bolts on the fan schroud. bfw (big f'n wrench) for the nut on the fan. a 3" extension. a 9/16s? or 14mm. and a flat head. takes about 15 min. Dont need to take off the accessories like the manual says. You can remove the pump with everything still on. And a15mmfor the tensioner
Thanks guys!
I went out and bought the water pump for my truck , a 200 piece tool kit, a BFW, an idler pully , came out to about 250 bux total with tax and everything... this weekend is D-day hehe. I think the easiest part will be doing the idler pully.. 250 beats teh 600 that the mechanic would charge me, and this way I get to learn more about my truck and it's inner workings :-) Thank so far for your replies, this forum rocks!

I didn't take the accessories off when I did my water pump, but now I wish I had.I recently replaced my thermostat, upper hose, and bypass hose, All of which I couldn't do when I did the pump.
IMO, I would take the extra time to remove all the accessories so that I would have complete access to the front of the motor and replace everything in one shot.

1. remove the belt tensioner
2. drain coolant. just use the drain plug on bottom of the driver's side radiator.
3. remove four fan shroud bolts and CUT fan shroud off with Sawzall.
4. remove upper radiator hose.
5. remove water pump by way of NOT taking off Fan and just removing the water pump with the fan still attached. it's only 7-9/16 bolts.
6. Clean off any old gasket material from timing cover and install new fan-less water pump.
7. Install Electric fan (summitracing.com 16" $65) (some 12 gauge wire, 20 amp switch, fuse adapter from local parts store $25)
8. install tensioner and refill coolant.
very simple to install fan. and the horsepower increase will definitely be nice!
