Default Caliper thread repair

Been having problems with brake-pull to the left for a while and in puttingthe brake caliperback on, found the top mounting bolt for the caliper will not tighten. The threads on the hub are stripped. Not the mounting bolt.

Whats the best thread repair these days?

Thanks so much Steve. It's the same problem I have but didn't get bad enough to hear any grinding. When I took the caliper off, the outside pad was a bit tore up on the backing. Had definatly been moving too much and chewed it up, but didn't try to spit it out yet!
I was thinking helicoils and looked at 'em online but was curious about anything new/better. Looks like helis' are good to go!

The thread just got added to the DIY thread for that section... sounds like I should also add it here. I did a heli coil install once along time ago and it worked fine back then. should work fine for your fix. there is also a product out there that is like puddy or clay that when activated becomes hard as steel... if the heli coil does not hold up, you could fill the hole and then dril & retap it with that stuff... might be worth a shot.

Wished at the timeit was that easy. It's not the caliper or the bolts, but the knuckle the caliper bolts to. The treads are stripped there.

But I did find an easier fix! AutoZone sells helis (surprised they did) but didn't have the correct size, so they suggested an "over-sized" caliper bolt. Slightly larger and cuts into the hole as it's installed.
So theAutoZoneguy said "let me call down the road at(a competitive store), "they have them cheaper". What??? This guy didn't just do that!!!They were still $20 but better thn $30 from AutoZone. I couldn't believe this guy sending me to a competitor at his suggestion!
Anyways, went there and got it and problem fixed. FYI - These caliper bolts are in the "HELP" section. Really saved me on this.

P.S. The service I have always received at my local AutoZone has been nothing short of top notch. These guys are the best. May not always be the best quality or largest selection, but A+ on service all the way!!!
