Clogged cat = Vibration on highway?
ive got my 99 ram with the318 the truck just hit 152000 and i notice a rattle from the cat and it just sounds like crap. the truck seems to lack power so im looking into changing the cat. my question is that do u guys think that the cat being clogged would give me a viration on the highway? the vibration feels like a wheel out of balance but im getting my wheels balanced tomorrow.i really really hope its not the tc.any opinions would be greatly appreciated
a badly clogged catalytic converter
could cause enough of what is called
'internal exhaust gas recirculation'
...which just means a lot of exhaust gas is left in the cylinder
because it can't get out....
this could cause miss-fires
and an engine vibration
that would increase with rpm and throttle opening

It will sound like you have marbles in there.
It may cause the engine to die when you are backing at idle.
A pluged cat could send heat back to the head and crack it.
You can get a magnaflow cat, set of head pipes and mid pipe, for 160-188 bucks, that bolt on, onebay. 206 at Summit
