Help Choosing Heads/Cam
I'm planning a heads/cam upgrade in the future and I need to know what will be compatible with what. Here is what I have planned so far for the whole thing.
Fastman 52mm TB
M1 intake from SoCalDakota that includes all necessary installation hardware
KRC 210X Cam
Hughes Stage 3 Iron Heavy Duty Magnum heads with 2.02/1.62 valves
ARP head bolt kit
Felpro head gasket set from Hughes that includes head gaskets, header gaskets, intake gaskets, o-rings, tb gaskets, air cleaner gaskets, water outlet gaskets, etc.
Now I need a valve spring kit to go with the heads but I'm not sure which one I needout ofthese three with the 210Xcam.

Then I need new hardened pushrods and rockers but I'm not sure if these rockers are compatible or not. I'm not sure which pushrods I needand what length they should be either.

That is all I can think of for now but please let me know if I've left anything out. A friend of mine is going to do the install when I get everything together and we are planning to get it done over a three dayweekend. He lives 3 hours away, one way, so that is why I'm trying to get everything for the install excluding the required tools because he has all of those.

I'd shoot John an email over here @ http://www.southeastrt.com/
If you end up talking to him, be prepared to sit and listen. I had about a 1.5hr convo with him that started out about with a simple question about roller rockers and ended with poor quality of hughes products. Give him a call (the numbers on the website), I can almost guarrentee he will set you straight.
Good luck!

Wow, so no Hughes or KRC stuff now? What happened between sometime in '07 and now to make people change their minds? I searched the forums for heads and cam and stuff like that and all people talked about was how good Hughes and KRC are. I wonder what mopowar would have to say about this since he is using almost the exact same setup? Hmm...
I wouldn't buy a cam from Hughes. Thier heads rock. They outflow ther/t's and eddy's. The only downside is thier weight as compared to the Eddy al heads. You will be very pleased with the 210x. It pulls like a freight train. As far as springs, the 1110's will work fine. That's what I run and have had no issues twisting up to 5.8-6k many many times lol. You could use the 1111's to be on the safe side, butthey will drain a extra bit of power. You will have to measure for pushrod length. Best way is to make a mock-up lifter, color the top of the valve stem with a sharpie, andassemble the #1 exhaust valve using the mock lifter. Then hand turn the crank for four or five revolutions, dissasemble, and see where the rr rubbed the sharpie off. It needs to be right in the center of the valve stem tip.I bought several sets of pushrods in25 thou incrementsand returned the ones I didn't use. Any adjustable rr's listed for the stock Magnum heads will work with the Hughes heads. Get a new set of lifters. When you go to adjust them, spin the motor with the starter until the oil pressure gauge rises above 40 (with no plugs and fuel disabled). This will pump the lifters up. It is not neccessary to do this, but will make the adj. procedure easier, and keep you from bottoming one out.
Wow, thanks for the info. Honestly, you kind of lost me there since I'm not a mechanic (or mechanically inclined)but my friend is so I'll print this out for him.

So are these the lifters I want to go with? The description on them sounds right for a bigger cam and all of that.

Only if you want your motor to sound like a space ship. I have a set sitting in my garage with 50 miles on them. If you want them I'll sell them for 1/2 what Hughes wants. Just get a set of Mopar performance lifters off of Summit. Remember, when your burning up that credit card, a lot of these guys are re-selling stuff that you could just as easily buy from the same place they get them. Get the major components where you will, but stuff like rr's, pushrods, gaskets, etc. you can shop. If you haven't ordered your heads yet, you may want to look into those new Mopar al heads that Hank posted up the link for. If I were buying a set of heads right now, I would atleast try to get some #'s on them.
Thanks for the info. It will be at least 6 months before I get everything together for this project, otherwise I'd try to buy those lifters from you. I noticed in your sig that it says "23lb Accel's" near the bottom. I assume that is for the injectors, right? Do I need to upgrade my injectors with this setup too? I'll be running almost the same setup you are except mine won't be smog legal.
