Ok,
I am new to this so here goes...
I have a 2001 ram 1500 and i am looking to change the fuel filter...
Can anyone tell me where it is located???

Inside the gas tank with the fuel pump.

Yup. As he said. From what I've read that seems to be the case with these trucks.

There is also a fuel filter/regulator mounted to the top of the pump. It is replaceable but requires dropping the tank or lifting the bed to access.
Only place I ever been able to source it is at the dealer.
Somebody said it was available aftermarket but I don't think a part # or brand was ever posted.

You replace the entire thing as a unit. You can get them at most parts stores. Prices vary widely.
