Hey guys.. Here's the deal... when truck gets to 1/2 tank it runs out of gas.. but there is still 1/2 tank left ..and yes the gauge is right..
I can fill it back up till it runs out the fill... and it shows full.. let it get to 1/2 tank and the truck acts like it runs out of gas..
Never had pump out of tank yet..
Do you guys think the pickup tube has a hole.. or has fell off the pump?

If the pickup fell off.. I would assume it is in the bottom of the tank...which would suck.. I think I can pull the pump... easy since the body is lifted.. but if the pickup is in bottom.. might be hard to reach... you think a magnet might grab it.. if it has fell off?

I just replaced the fuel pump in my 96 1500 4x4. It is a snap you can pull the tank and replace the pump in less than an hour. My truck is stock with 33's on it. plenty of room to get under it. the collar is plastic so it is easy to take off to inspect the fuel pump.
Now the pump is in a module assembly it is a round plastic cylinder. It is not seviceable.
Good luck
p.s. mine started to act like it was running out of fuel it would pop and studder. then it would be fine finally it died in my driveway. It seemed to happen at .1/4 tank.
