Default Rubbing noise

i have a problem that i would like to fix.

When i bought the truck it had a rubbing noise that i heard form the rear brakes, ok so i decided that i want to replace them and see if that would fix it, but when i replaced the rear brakes the rubbing was still there and i was told that i would need to wait until the brakes wear down, but it has been already been 4 days and i still hear the noise.

When im traveling and im not pressing the gas pedal i hear it very little but as soon as i press on the gas pedal it gets louder and i was wondering why it was making that noise when i apply the gas pedal?

On my 1995 Dodge Dakota 4x4, after replacing my brakes, they always "squeaked", rubbed slightly. I was told it was normal, and after repeated shop visits (and to different ones), just kinda half-accepted it. But I hated it every day until I traded it in.

I don't know about the rubbing noise. All disk brakes and probably drum too drag slightly. I don't think you should hear a noise from it though.

As for the guys with squeeking I tried several sets of pads and couldn't get rid of the squeeking. I finally figured out that all it was was needing some grease. I put grease on the back of the pads and on the metal it slides on. Seems to have almost fixxed the squeeking. Everyonce in a while you will hear a slight squeek but it's pretty much back to normal now.

Lift the truck take off the wheels, put it in nuetral. turn the wheels by hand. You should be able to hear the rub and feel it too. May help pin down the Prob.

Disc brakes should not drag. If they are, then the piston is not fully retracting into the bore.

i found what the problem is

i was going to look at how much fluid the diff had and noticed some black spots under the bed
i felt where it was coming from and found that it has a slight 2 inch slash and 2 tu=iny holes in the exhaust pipe
i went to turn the truckon and heard the same thing as when driving, but i never noticed becuase when it was in park i would always rev it too high to hear it

drum brakes after initial wear in should not drag at all. the springs in the brake assembly are there to pull the shoes back away from the drums. disc brakes should not drag because there is a very tiny wobble in the rotor that is designed to push the pads away from the rotor.
