Default wheel bearing problem??

ok about 6 month ago i had done my u loint on the driver side.when i had got it all back together to put the castle nut on then the cotter pin, thenut screwed to far in so that the cotter pin was not going thru the castle nut,it was on the out side.so i had backed it out so the pin went thru the nut.now today i had got new tires put on and they told me that the hub was loose,so i went and took a look and the hole tire moves.so i need to do my wheel bearing, but what if this nut problem happen again?

That nut should have been at least 175ft/lb regaurdless of the pin. the pin is primarilly for caution.. Double check my number there but thats y it went bad. Def. habe to torque it down tight. Next time bend the pin down into the castle nut.

Bet you are missing a washer. Get a new set for washers for your wheel. They are either missing or too old to use.

I was told by the dealer the only way to replace the inner bearing is to but the hub and the only way to replace the outter bearing is to buy the rotor. I have a 1997 2500 4x4
