Brief power loss while driving
I have a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 Sport 4x4 with the 318ci in engine. While driving anywhere between 50 and 80Mph I sometimes get a brief cut-out of power. It happens so quick, i do not get a chance to look at the Tach, oil pressure, or volt meter. This does not happen very often, but it has been happening for a few years now. I went to my local Dodge dealer (which knows me by first name), and they told me that the intake was very dirty and it needed to be cleaned. So..., I took them my truck and they cleaned the intake and a few other things, and it was not even 4-6 months later, it was doing it again. Like I said, it does not always happen, and there is nothing I have been able to do to simulate it occuring again. I know Chrysler has not been popular for their transmissions... could it be the transmission? I have checked all of the fluids, and all are okay. Has anyone had this occur to them on their dodge? if so, what was the outcome?

the fuel pump assembly submerged in the tank
that is beginning to go bad,
or wiring to that same assembly that has a intermittent electrical fault
can also cause a problem like your are experiencing

mine just started doing this on the drive from NC to colorado.. it will 'click' like its cutting off and then as quick as it did it.. it was fine.. did it more under the load of going up the mountains.. i am going to do a complete tune up on it.. and see how it fares after that.. it doesnt do it often.. but enough that i dont like it.. let me know what you find out.. and if this is the same thing
My 97 5.9 did the same thing just one day and it did it for about a week. i really dint worrie about it just because it happend so fast but them one day i was sitting at a stop light and it did it but completly shut off. then would not start again. here to find out the coil was shorting out and cut all the power (spark) hope that helps.
