Default Ball joint question.

Wondering if its worth trying to find a friend with a descent set of tools to change one side (upper/lower) ball joints.
OR
Just buy the ball joints and take the truck to a shop to have them do it.

How much do you guys think a shop would charge?

Anyone in Minnesota that can help me out that would be cool..

Default RE: Ball joint question.

2 weeks after i bought the truck i took it back to the dealer and told them the truck drives/steers awful. They said all 4 ball joints were shot. The told me 850 for all 4. I told them to take the truck back. They then decided to do one side and i pay for the other side.. I said go for it and ill come back and do the other side. So, now I need to replace one side (upper & lower). How much is just the parts? Ive never messed with the front end on any of the cars/trucks that ive owned so, im unaware of the prices.. Thanks

AutoZone rental tools has a ball joint press. Basically a revised C-Clamp, but it works pretty good

Do it yourself. That is what I plan on doing. I got a 3-in-1 ball joint press for around $45. You can also use it to press out u-joints if needed.
