Default Radio controls on steering wheel

New to the forum, have 2000 ram, has anybody, have problems with the radio controls on the steering wheel? Check the fuses in the cab all check ok, is there a fuse for the radio in the engine compartment? Any help would be great.

Does the cruise and horn work properly?
Clockspring is common for this problem. The actual switches are not.

Is it the OEM headunit? Usually you lose them with a aftermarket H/U unless you install an adapter which seemed to get mixxed reviews when I was looking at them. I ended up just leaving my steering wheel controls disconnected. I really did like them though so wouldn't have minded having them but wasn't paying that much for an adapter only half the people seemed to have good luck with. If I ever put my OEM radio back in I can hook them up.

It's the assembly between the steering wheel and the column.
It makes the electrical connection so you can still turn the wheel.

What? Your ram don't look like that?
Just for reference I couldn't find a good Ram pic online.
As much as I like to help I didn't feel like tearing mine apart to take a pic...

There was a recall on these for the 2001 model year. Not sure about the 2000 model year.
