just wondering what gears are in my truck. The truck is a 98 2500.I was told that, some of my trucks came with 4.10. Also, is there anything on my vin number that could tell me witch gears i have.

 

Using your vin #, email dodge and ask them for a build sheet. It'll say what gears you have in your truck along with alot of other info. The thread for it is on the front page right now.

 

or... look at the rear axle. it should have 4.10 stamped into the axle. at least mine does.

 

if your lucky you may have a sticker with paint codes axel types and gearing printed on it. under the hood

 

My '98 2500 has as Dontdodge noted a sticker on the underside of the hood denoting which gears your have. Pop the hood then look directly up, it should say D60-3.55 or 4.10. 3.55 was the standard ratio with 4.10 and I want to say 3.73 being optional, but I am not positive on the 3.73, I might be pulling that number out of my butt. You can also get the build sheet from your local dodge dealer for free.
