Jeep is still broke down....HELP
ok remember me everyone... I have a 94 JEEP grand cherokee with the 5.2 v8 and 46rh tranny like our trucks. I installed the new tranny and went to crank it up and it did not crank.
Turns out that when I installed the tranny I smashed the wire that went to the CPS, so I changed the CPS, it then crunk up but ran horrible.
So next I changed the plugs cause all the cranking before I changed the CPS fouled them out.
Still didn't run good
So I cleaned fuel injectors and changed the fuel filter.
Still didn't run good
So I did a tune up, new cap, rotor, wire and new spark plugs(again)
Still didn't run good
So I changed the CPS(again)
Still didn't run good
So I cleaned the injectors(again)
Still didn't run good
Checked the flexplate for any dents
Still didn't run good
Checked map sensor
It was good
So heres what I did. I took the wire off the first CPS that I cut while installing the CPS, to check the voltage going to the CPS. My manual sais that I should have 1 wire with 8 volts, 1 wire that is a ground, and 1 wire that reads the CPS. Remember that the CPS had been cut from this wire, so the 3rd wire should have had no voltage, BUT IT DOES.
the 1st wire is giving me 5.2 volts, the second is a ground, and the 3rd is giving me 1.2 volts. To me this means that when I tried to crank the truck after the new tranny that the smashed wire that it shorted out the computer.
Do you guys think that this is possible, I found one on ebay that I'm going to bid on, but I just thought I'd ask some of you guys what you thought

Don't know if i'm allowed to post that or not. They're not a competing forum so i think i'll be fine. If you don't get an answer here ask them. I've been a member for awhile plenty of knowledgeable people. Pretty nice about stuff too, not di<ks like people on some other forums are.

I dont care what forum your from i'll help anybody. It is possible.. any wrong voltage to the wrong part could fry it faster than a cheeta on cocain. My Jeep cherokee I found out the hard way that your not supposed to charge a computer controlled car for a prolonged amount of time with the battery hooked up. (Ie trickle charge)Something about the charger causing a power surge. I would take that question to an experianced dealer an ask.. cause you can never be sure with those computers.
Check your cam/sync sensor voltage and see if it is the same. I think it should also be 8 volts. Also check the 5 volt source for the following sensors, MAP, TPS. The 5 volt is taken off the 8 volt so a short on the 5v will effect the 8 volt.
I would check these before changing the PCM

alright guys, I got my new PCM put in today and guess what. I wasted 200 dollars. It's still not fixed. I have a feeling that it could be the cam sensor but I need some help. Is this a dealer item only, I can't find one for the Jeep or my Ram(it has the same motor), do I have to buy the entire distributor
okay so i bought the entire distributor, today. And Surprise I wasted 100 dollars. I really need help you guys what else could it be. I have nothing left that I can think of. Wiring Harness? If i cant get it fixed I guess I'm gunna have to sell this POS.
ok guys, so I went to carquest and ordered a fancy multimeter, both my camshaft and crankshaft position sensors check out. The crankshaft position sensor clicks eight times like it is suppose too, and the camshaft one reads 5 volts for 180degrees and then 0 volts for 180degrees. Both are working correctly. I purchased a set of noid lights to check that.
Everyone please help me, post anything that you can think of, i do not know what to do.

Have you checked the fuel pressure at the rail? You should be getting 49 psi at WOT.
Another thing to check is the coil. You could probably swap out the one on your truck to the jeep if they're the same engine. 5.2 coil and 5.9 coil is the same in the rams anyway.
Also, I know the Rams run **** poor when the battery is dead, even if you're jumping it and got it to turn over, they just don't like a dead battery. You might have killed it cranking it over a bunch.
