If you want to keep the stock tranny, your options are pretty much 5.2L or 5.9L. But if you up to the 5.9L, you'll have to buy a new computer (and possible a few other minor items).

If you want to mod/switch out the tranny and who knows what else (someone with more experience with this fill us in here), the 3.9L V6 is possible.

But, if your doing that kind of work anyway, you could always throw in a much bigger engine, like the 8.0L V10 or something.

just stick with your stock motor, if you didn't throw a rod, then I would rebuild the motor you have, probably for alot less money you can rebuild the one you got

This website has a good shortblock, that you could transfer all of your stuff onto. This would give you a brandnew motor for probably around 2000 dollars. You really cant go wrong with that

Yea, it threw a rod. Big ol' hole in the oil pan that engine is beyond rebuildable. Ill stick with the "318" 5.2L engine size.

I Don't really know where to find a low mileage 318 for a fair price, any of yall know of a website I should check? Or possibly Ill go shop at local "you pull it" junk yards?

I haven't seen any 2nd gens in the pick and pulls around here yet. Still too new or else parts are still in too high demand in the Metroplex. Craigslist sometimes has good buys on stuff. Also try the classifieds here and see if somebody's parting out a ram. Be careful of your years as there were lots of changes from 94-98 and ask if you don't know.
