Are you sure you really want to do that?!!! I installed CNG systems on Super Shuttle vans for a while and we were installing four different fuel cells in each vehicle. Two were 10 inch diameter by 6 feet long, one 10 inch by 4 feet and one 18 inch by 4 feet. Roughly the equivalent of 22 gallons of gasoline. You would need a fuel cylinder almost the size of your truck bed to hold the equivalent of your gas tank! At full you would have almost 4000 pounds PSI in that tank! In the event of a collision you would essentially be driving a bomb! There is supposedly little chance of a fire because the pressure would blow the fire out, but imagine the amount of shrapnel from a fiberglass wrapped aluminum tank!
The system would cost thousands of dollars! It would take 20 years to make up for the price difference in fuel. CNG is higher in octane than gasoline but only if it is metered in a closed system with zero loss. In anything less than a sealed system the benefits would not be measurable.
