Hey everyone I'm new to the forum.
I just got my 1999 Dodge Ram about a year ago now. I love it!
I was getting about 12.5 MPG but I went on a 200 Mile trip and it started to lose some MPG but I thought it was just because it was up hills and things. But now it keeps decresing and I am down to 8.5 MPG and the gas is killing me!
Anyone have any ideas

did you check your air filter?

 

also check the plenum

 

Yes, definitely check the plenum gasket. This a problem in 2nd gen rams. I had mine done at an independent shop I trust. It was about 350.00, but better than the dealers 800.00.

 

Or do it yourself for about 1/3 of that.

 

Give'r a little tune up. Plugs, wires, air filter, oil. Run a can of engine restore, it actually does work. Mines the opposite. Gets about ten going to work and back all week long but after a little road trip today, bout 100 miles, shes getting close to thirteen in high sierra nevada country!
