Dashboard cracks, 2001 Dodge Ram 1500
When I bought my 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 V6 pickup, it was beautiful. It had a clean engine, clean body, no scratches, except under the bed cover, and there was NO CRACK IN THE DASH!!!!
Now one year later, I have this huge crack on the passenger side, that runs from the windshield all the way to the glove compartment! I had no idea where it came from, so I clicked on this site, for a dash cover, and luckily, I found that there are MANY of us with this same problem, that DODGE needs to fix, for FREE![:@]
There is no way that this problem could be anything but a factory flaw, and DODGE needs to do a re-call and fix them. Is there anything we can do, to unite and get this problem taken care of ASAP? Please feel free to contact me by email...I live in Darlington, SC...Email me at:
SUNEEDLITE08@YAHOO.COMLooking forward to hearing from anyone who
would like to get in touch about this very serious
problem, and how we can do something about it
No need to preach to the choir there buddy. There is already a huge thread about cracked dashs that you may want to look atthat already answer your questions. Welcome to the forum, and the search feature on the site should become your best friend. Good Luck!
I wonder if this is only on the 2001 models, because I have a 2000, and have never heard of any trucks the same year as mine with the cracks in the dash. Heard about lots of '01's though.
My 01 has cracked the first dash. I put another one in and a year and a half later it's a small crack at one of the bolt holes. Thats all so far though.
I think it applies to all years doesn't it?

My 98 had three cracks in the dash. It is very common to see these cracks in dark plastics hat are constantly left in the sunlight. My dad and I ended up purchasing a new dash top for my 98 and was around $300. It was a lot more than I expected it to cost, since the 06 crash guide said $160..
I plan on keeping a sunshade on it and condition it with plastic conditioner. Really that's all you can do to keep it in good shade if you don't garage keep your truck.
