Default A/C Problems - PLEASE HELP!!

I have a '98 Ram 1500 4X4 5.9L w/auto. My A/C isn't working and the days here in Wisconsin are finally getting warmer. Before I bought the truck last year it had a new a/c compressor installed into it. The pully clutch or whatever on the compressor was starting to click louder and make noise when it was running before winter set in last year. Well now this year it doesn't click on/off at all, as it just sits and pully keeps on going with the serp belt.

What would this be?? The compressor, the clutch, a/c switch, leak, or what?? I honestly don't know what an a/c unit works and what causes it NOT too. So any advise here would be of great help on what to look for and such. I surely don't want to spend big bucks finding it's problem if I don't have too, but I will NEED my a/c very soon.

Thanks in advance!!

on my car the a/c died out, we just added rc134 to it, but there was something my buddy had to do to manually start the compressor (think it was the compressor) for it to suck in the rc134, otherwise it wouldnt kick on at all and then wouldnt draw it in...

My father's 98 had the switch goe out on his, causing the compressor not to kick on. He just wired in a switch and it has worked fine since.
