leaky seal

Default leaky seal

i have a 2000 dodge ram 1500 4x4, 5 inch lift with 35 inch tires. i changed my wheel bearing hub assembly like 2 months ago, and now i just started hearing a grinding noise so i looked at my front ent and the the seal where the axle shaft goes into the housing is leaking..... how do i replace this??????

You have to pull the thering gear and carrierout the front axle, to get to the axle seals. Minearecurrently leaking, but I just live with it for now, I add oil as needed but mine only leak maybe a quart a month, thats if I park the wrong way

Can someone be more specific here..Does the carrier have to come out to get the axle shafts out or something? there is not seals in that deep are they?..

deeper than you can imagine. the stupid seals are on the inside end of the axle tube instead of the outside end of the tube.

ok.. starting to understand things a little better. Therefore there is no oil in the axle tubes?...correct?..That explains why whenI move my wheel side to side and watch that shaft do the same no oil runs out..So basically thefront axle shafts are supported out at the wheel hub bearing..Is that correct?

correct. no oil in the tubes.
correct. axles are supported at the hub bearing.
