Flag mounts for the bed?
prolly best to use the receiver hitch... unscrew the ball, drop the pole into the hole (thats what she said), clamp the pole below and above the hitch, maybe fabricat something like a chin strap for extra support and even better yet get a heavy duty metal pole and get it threaded so you can use nuts instead of the clamps...

I thought about doing that with a confederate and american flag. i still might some day but my grand mother would have a fit. She seems to think that if my truck has any kind of rebel stuff in view it will make it a target to get broke into or smashed up

Indy WTF do you never look in your rear view, you couldn't see the flag? LOL
other than the driver error did it work out well? I've been wanting to do that. Also what material should the flag be so it doesn't get ripped. I know they make flags for people who live on lakes or other windy areas.

If you're going to do it often, and you want to do it right, go to west marine or boatus. They have flip coverstainless inserts that you can cut into the tops of thebed rails. It will end up looking like a miniature billet gas cover(s). I put one of that type on my 2nd sailboat. I ended up buying a generic table leg from Lowes, stained it cherry and varnished it 8 coats. You can get the inserts at varying degrees. IIRC it was from 90* down to 45* in increments of 15*.
