Whats the best way to seal up corner lights?
I noticed with my new clear corners one was fogging up after a few days of rain. I had thought of trying to seal them up better before putting them on as I was afraid this would happen and I've heard to always do this with aftermarket lights. The reason I didn't as it doesn't have like a groove for the silicone or anything to sit in so I thought it would look ugly. I guess I'm going to have to do something. Do I want to try and take these apart then use silicone to hold the lense part to the housing or do I just want to take clear silicone and run a bead around the light to seal it up and hope it doesn't look too bad? Whats the best way to do this?
Also for drying it out do I want to just take a hair dryer and do it through the hole for the bulb or how is the best way to get this moisture out before I seal it up?
Thanks guys.

id just pick up a tube of some clear silicone, and to dry them out, you can wither use a hairdryer, but the crack is probably pretty small. id just use a air hose and blow her out that way.
good luck
good luck
One of them seemed to keep water out but the other just let water get on the inside. Thats why I wanted to seal them up. Now I see a set of APC ones on eBay for cheaper than what I paid. I wish I had just gotten those but I didn't see them when I bought mine. I'm tempted to buy that set too incase these eBay ones don't hold up.
I've sealed one up and it looks okay. Not the best but okay and the other one I'm still trying to get to dry out. Nothing I've tried seems to have dried it out completely. I'm hoping it will dry out from just sitting. The hairdrier didn't do much so I put them in the oven and baked them for a few minutes. That helped some. Then I tried the air compressor and putting paper towels in it and that got most but not all of the water out. I can't get to the reflector that has water trapped no so I'm hoping it will dry out from sitting.

Well, I ended up buying the set of APC ones too. I figure this way I have a spare set. If I keep having problems with these I may put the APC ones on and hopefully they will be better although I'm not positive they will. I figure this way if I ever break a light or something down the road I can have a spare set and the name brand sets seem to be hard to find which is why I got those off eBay so I figured I minus well grab them while I can as it seemed like a decent price for a new set of name brand ones.
i had the same problem on my 95 1500 but it was on the driver side headlight. STOCK ones btw [:'(]
-the moisture and water kept blowing my light bulbs.i wish i had pics but it was 3 years ago and had no clue about this site at that time... anyways just took out the corner light and headlight bracket (i cant remember but i think it was a pain for the headlight_ corner lightis easy though) i used a heat gun to break down the sealant, not too hot because you can blemish the plastic and make it crack up and it will look bad. Once it was warm i took very sharp knife and slid it in the little gap and SLOWLY pried it apart, a little bit at a time. Once it was off enough it popped off, i cleaned the glass out, wiped it out, cleaned the inside plastic. I took a light grit sand paper and sanded off the old sealant just enough not to get into the plastic so it wouldvethinned it out and the fitment was off. Took some new silicone on my finger and went around the outer rim, popped the plastic lens back on, some silicone came out the gap so i took my finger and went around the outside rim without getting much on the lens to see. Let it sit for 24 hours and took a spray bottle and squirted the seal to see if it sealed (artificial rain
) no leakage- popped it back in and bam cost of sealicone + my time = cheap but effective fix!

Thanks. I had a headlight doing the same thing and I just drilled 2 holes in the bottom of it and it seems to fog up when it rains or something but drains back out. I may try to do more with it sometime but it's been like that for a while and I haven't messed with it.
I got to talking to someone about these lights and he said they shouldn't be completely sealed as they should have drain holes and usually when he has seen them fogging up the drain hole is blocked. I got to checking it out and the one fogging up didn't have a drain hole but the one that didn't fog up or get water in it had a drain hole. This may or may not have been the problem. I sealed up around the lense with clear RTV anyway so we will see how it works. It doesn't look quite as good as not having any RTV showing but you can't really see it unless you get really close so I don't think it will be a big deal. I don't think you will notice it even if you get really close to the truck as even up close it looks like a decent job I just don't like the look of clear RTV. You have to be close to see it at all though.
