Well, I was considering swapping from the 98 regular bumper to a 99-01 sport bumper, but it would have required a change of all mounting brackets, so I decided not to do it.

This is the bumper setup for both Sport and Standard models. Seems to me that part number 3 (Mount for Stardard) and Part number 4 (Mount for sport) don't use the same mounting holes. The frame on both are exactly the same so I couldn't see there being a large issuse. You may have to do some drilling. And of course the grill needs to be changed in order to fit. As you can see there are a lot more parts envolved with the standard models then the sports. You could always wait and see if LMC truck makes a chrome sport bumper. They've been making a lot of chrome replacement parts lately. You can pick up a free catalog at lmctruck.com

I plan on fabricating a bullet proof bumper from spare bumper mounts, and the steel I have lying around.... Probably need stiffer front springs though...

Actually your cheapest option is just getting a bull bar. Adds to the look of the truck as well. You could easy pick this up at any auto parts store. Some may even install for you if you ask.

it is hard to find stuff that will work with the sport front end. Because the bumper hangs down lower on the sports
