Default Help...Again

How can I tell if my '00 Ram has the stock "security system"
I purchased a keyless remote and can not get it to work
I looked in the fuse box under the hood and saw that it did not even
have the security relay!

Is it as easy as getting a relay?
I have the red light on the dash but it does not blink
Thank you

doubtful you have it. Your manufacturer RPO (or whatevber they are called for dodge) should state whether it has it or not. Also, the security light will come on as a check when the truck is started.

Right next to the fuse box on the fire wall (under the hood) is a horn?? Security?
Why would the truck have the red light if there were no security system?
I am new to the Ram trucks...bear with me!
It has power windows and locks, shouldn't the keyless remote be standard?
It's a Laramie SLT!????
BTW, I bought it with no paperwork or owners manual!

You can go to any dodge dealer and they'll print you off a sheet with factory options as jagxtype said. If you have a factory remote and the vehicle had keyless entry, you'll have to program the remote. security was an option on top of keyless entry i think.

I believe you are correct, froesen. Mine has remote keyless entry, but not the security system.

Or you can email Dodge your VIN and see if it has it, but the stealership route would be quicker.

I don't know about the security but for the keyless remote on the doors:

First open the remote, It will pop right open with a coin or small screwdriver and clean it with electronics cleaner. Put it back together and go to the stealership to buy the batteries. If they are good guys the will put the batteries in and reprogram the remote for free.

At least that is what I did.
