Need help with fuel line near tank towards motor
Truck is 1997 ram 25004x4 5.9 gas..While in the process of replacing my fuel tank straps(due to severe rust)I noticed that my "to rear" brake line and hard fuel line are severely rusted also . The brake line I can repair with new line and tools from autozone. But I called the dodge dealer on the fuel line and they said "discontinued". Is there somewhere else to go to find this fuel line...Or is there an alternative to the original.. Mine has been repaired before it looks like.. The coupler is gone at the pump..Just rubber hose and clamps to get it over to the rusty hard line. I don't even know what the original looked like.. It looks like a hard line went towards the motor and turned into a flex line ..Is that right? Any help on this appreciated
What part of the fuel line is actually rusted? Is it something that is built into your fuel pump/sending unit housing, or can it be disconnected somehow? My suggetion if you can't get something aftermarket since the part has been discontinued would be to get some sandpaper so you can remove the rust. After that, coat the line with a few coats of that high temp fuel resistant ceramic coating made by duplicolor.
It is the section of hardline that follows the frame . The original disconnect at the pump was replaced at one point with a short piece of rubber hose. The hose jumps over to the hardline, then follows the frame rail, then another splice of rubber hose, then another rusty hardline that heads up towards the intake. When I say rust , I mean heavy peeling scale beyond repair.. Either way it has to all come off the truck. I would just like to find an original replacement. Or open to suggestions of coming up with something else..thanks
