Need help with wiring brake controller
I have a 97 ram 2500 with the factory tow package. It has a class IV hitch and the factory 7 pin hookup. I got the brake controller with the dodge plug and I was looking under the dash around the steering wheel and fuse box and I can't find the plug that the controller plugs into. Where is this plug supposed to be?
Ok I haven't checked my truck out yet but the instructions with the brake controller harness I have show picture of the dash and you know how it has the fuse panel you pull off the side of the dash. Well it shows plug like inside the dash and points to it through that fuse panel opening. It makes it look like you get to it through there but maybe you go from the bottom. Not 100% sure it just points to the fuse panel and shows a picture of a plug there. Maybe check that out.
Ok I went down and looked at it as I had to plug mine in to test it. The plug is not behind the fuse cover. Well, it's actually like it's directly behind it but you have to go from under the dash. It's just a blue plug on the drivers side it was half covered up by a bunch of wires I had had to kind of move out of the way to plug it in.
Yea pretty much. Mine is a white plug and it was jammed way up there in the corner. Here is a picture:

Ok so I got this all hooked up and tested everything and it all works except for the right turn signal. The truck shows it, but the trailer does nothing. The brake and running lights work for both sides so it's not the bulb. Where should I look?

1st, test -light -probe the 7 pin connecter to see if that flashes.
If it does, it's in the trailer somewhere.
If not there, start tracing back from the 7-pin connecter with the
probe until you fine the wire where it's hot.
You can get a really cheap test probe for under 10 bucks at most
parts-stores.

I got the connection to finally work just had to scrape on the connections a little they are a little corroded. Now that I have it working when I use the left or right turn signals, it blinks really fast and barely lights up. The 4-ways work just fine. It does this everytime I hook up to any trailer. This trailer tho has 2 turn signal lights on the back so it barely lights up at all. What would I do about this?
i had this same problem, you need to either get a heavy duty flasher from the dealer or go to any parts store and get an electronic flasher.
if you go the parts store just tell them your lights are flashing fast with a trailer hooked up and you need a flasher to correct that and they should be able to go to the shelf and get it for you.
