Not knowing your exact driving style and if the engine needs a tune up, I wouldn't go much over 250 miles if I were you. At 225 miles, I have just over seven gallons of fuel left (out of a standard 26 gallon fuel tank). Did the calculations, and I got just a hair under 12 mpg. I have a lead foot, so thats pretty aggresive driving (and all in town), but better to be safe then sorry and standing along side of the road, hoping for a kind soul with a gas can.
well the truck has had the best of everything and im driving like gas prices are $4.00 a gal
im at 390miles so I beter get to a gas station
thanks for your help bud

If you have a Quad Cab 1500, yes, find a gas station. All they have are the 26 gallon tanks.
EDIT: If you have a long bed, don't worry about it quite that much. Long beds have 35 gallon tanks. But I'd still find a gas station somewhat soon.

He must have a long bed because 390 miles doesn't happen in a 26 tank. At least not in mine. If I get 300 before the light, it's a miracle. Had as little as 200 in the winter.
Well in my V10 with a 35 gallon tank i'm lucky to get 240 miles in my 99 qc 1500 with a 26 gallon tank i get around 240 with 3 gallons left. heh thats funny i get the same milage out of the 26 gallons as i do the 35 gallons with the v10. I consider my 5.9 my eco vehical, and i hear others complain.

I've done about 330 to a tank but I don't know if there is something in my tank or it just doen't fill all the way because the most gas I've ever put it was like 21g. When exactly does the gas light come on? seems like around the 5-7g (280-300 miles) left mark for me. I've gone like 40miles before with the gas light on and still have never filled over 21g.
i get 10 mpg at a 35 gallon tank which is 350 miles. my gauge is broken too, and i have run out of gas 5 times so far in this truck. the gas can now rides perminatly in the bed.
