Yes you can remove the old one. But it will not help your engine or gas mileage any. Engine & PCM need the heat to run properly.

I was thinking the same thing, why would you have to order one when any good parts store stocks these.

I guess you guys didnt notice, it is a V10, you cant just go to auto zone or pep boys to get a thermostat for $10. Its a speacial order part for $60 at auto zone. You cant evenorder it from Pep boys. Try getting header gaskets or even an oil pan gasket for a V 10 from you local parts store, good luck. I had to make my own oil pan gasket. Have you even seen a thermostat for a V10, its the size of maybe a tea cup or small coffee cup, not normal.

Just take it out till the part comes in .. worse that could happen is throw a code for taking to long for it to warm up or eat just a little more gas , whoopie doooo , lot better then runing hot and blow a head gasket or motor...

Sorry didnt read the took it out part... how hot ??? mite blown a head gasket now its blocking the passage way..

Check your oil for a tan color. My problem was part of the radiator failed, so it gave me just enough to not spike. When the weather warmed up it started to get hot.

Is your plenum leaking? That could be why your truck is a turd.
