Engine Missing?

1999 Dodge Ram 1500 5.9 2WD Okay... I was on a 9 hour road trip and my engine started to miss after I just filled up with gas. I filled my tank when the gauge told me I had 1/8 of a tank left. About 20 or so miles down the road after filling up, on cruise control, my truck would not rev over 3000 rmp's to make it up a hill. I pulled over, checked the air filter, tranny fluid level, and put fuel system cleaner as well as 89 gas in it to balance it out if I had bad gas. All of that did not end up working so I drove the final 3 hours home without being able to drive faster than 70mph. Going up hills on the highway I could not top speeds of 45mph. Whenever I try to hit the gas my truck bogs down and will not go above 2,500 rmp's. I siphoned the gas out of my tank, filled it up with 5 gallons of 89 and put Techron fuel system cleaner in it. To no avail my truck is still having issues. The check engine light has not come on except when I was really trying to push my truck past 3,000 rmp's on the highway. It flashed but then went off. I am open to ideas. Fuel filter? Fuel pump? I don't want to drop the tank but I know I will have to in order to check the fuel filter and fuel pump. Thanks for the help.

My fuel pressure was at 40psi so I figured it was the fuel pump. Paid $250 for the pump and another $200 in labor to replace the pump only to find that my catalytic converter took a dive and my exhaust is plugged. The guys at Don Allen Tire and Automotive didn't even diagnose the problem and automatically assumed it was the fuel pump. They wouldn't give me the money back in labor and ultimately frustrated my day. Bad customer service! Now I have to find a place that will weld a exhaust pipe in place of the converter instead of shelling out another $300 for the converter. Anyone know places that will do that even though its against the law?

Sorry for your luck man...
One thing I have learned in the past on this forum is that almost every imagineable issue has been thrown out on this forum, just search around prior to posting, or shelling out $$$ on something you may or may not need. Granted, having a new fuel pump module is a good long term investment, but it still sucks to have to pay for something you didnt ultimately need.
At least now you got good power back!
