Default Boa Remote start

i hooked this up and previously posted, but im still stuck. Everything works fine except the parking light flash. It says to hook the white on the control box(-) to the negative on the switch. I get nothing flashing weather i hook it up to the negative, or the black/yellow positive. Anyone have a solution to this?

1998 Laramie 4x4 SLT
5.9L

i believe its the 165b model remote start

FOR A {+) CONTROL YOU NEED TO TEST THE SWITCH AND SEE WHICH WIRE HAS POWER WHEN YOU HAVE BOTH THE PARKING LIGHTS AND THE HEADLIGHTS ON, BUT IS NOT REGULATED BY THE DIMMER. IF YOUR TEST LIGHT DIMS OUT WITH THE USE OF THE DIMMER THAN THAT IS THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER LIGHTING. AFTER YOU FIND THIS WIRE HOOK UP THE "FLASHING LIGHTS" WIRE FROM THE REMOTE STARTER TO THIS WIRE.

FOR A (-) CONTROL YOU NEED TO HOOK THE CLIP SIDE OF YOUR TEST LIGHT TO THE POWER OF THE PARKING LIGHTS AND TEST FOR THE GROUND ON THE SWITCH. WHEN THE TEST LIGHT ILLUMINATES CHECK IT WITH THE DIMMER. IF IT DIMS OUT, YOU HAVE THE WRONG WIRE.

TO DETERMINE IF YOU NEED A (+) FOR CONTROL , HOOK THE CLIP OF THE TEST LIGHT TO A GROUND. START THE VEHICLE WITH THE REMOTE CAR STARTER. TEST THE OUTPUT ON THE STARTER CONTROL BOX FOR THE FLASHING PARKING LIGHTS. IF THE LIGHT BEGINS TO FLASH THEN YOU NEED TO HOOK THAT OUTPUT TO THE (+) OF THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH AS DESCRIBED ABOVE. IF THE TEST LIGHT DOES NOT RESPOND READ BELOW.

TO DETERMINE IF IF YOU NEED A (-) CONTROL, HOOK THE CLIP OF THE TAST LIGHT TO A POWER. START THE VEHICL WITH THE REMOTE CAR STARTER. TEST THE OUTPUT ON THE STARTER CONTROL BOX FOR THE FLASHING PARKING LIGHTS. IF THE LIGHT BEGINS TO FLASH THEN YOU NEED TO HOOK THAT UOTPUT TO THE (-) OF THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH AS DESCRIBED ABOVE.

IF THE TEST LIGHT DOES NOT RESPOND MAKE SURE YOU HAD A GOOD POWER AND GROUND DURING TESTING. IF YOU STILL HAVE NO RESPONSE CHECK OTHER OUTPUTS ON THE STARTER CONTROL FOR THE SAME PROPERTIES. I HAVE INSTALLED A LOT REMOTE CAR STARTERS AND THE INSTRUCTIONS ARE KNOWN TO BE WRONG. ANY ? JUST ASK.

its a negative control on my remote start but a positive controlled parking lights at the switch. the ground is constant and the positive is dead until i pull the switch. so how does one hook this up when the remote start uses negative control and the headlights positive?

HAVE YOU EVER HOOKED UP A RELAY BEFORE? IF YOU HAVE JUST INSTALL ONE INLINE USING THE GROUND SIGNAL FROM THE CAR STARTER AS THE GROUND FOR THE RELAY. RUN A 18 GAUGE OR THINNER WIRE (FUSED) 5 AMP OR LESS TO POWER SIDE OF RELAY. NEXT RUN A FUSED HOT (CONSTANT) WIRE TO THE TO THE SWITCHED SIDE OF THE RELAY.THEN TO THE LIGHT ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE SWITCH. THIS WAY INSTED OF USING A POWER TO TRIP THE RELAY, THE RELAY HAS A CONSTANT POWER AND YOU USE THE GROUND TO TRIP IT, THUS THE LOW AMP FUSE TO PROTECT THE REMOTE STARTER FROM TRYING TO GROUND SUCH A BIG LOAD. ANY MORE ? ASK AND GOOD LUCK.

I'm also facing this dillemma with my alarm / remote start.
the wires from the remote start are a (+)
the purple / yellow wire at the switch is a (-)
2003 ram 1500 (sorry, almost forgot to add that)

Is there also a positive wire I can hook to at this switch?
the only other option is the relay center under the hood and it looks like that'll be a PITA to get to...

Thanks in advance...
