I was just looking at some subs on e-bay and had the bright "well maybe not so bright" idea about seeing if i could fit them in my truck. The only place i can see me putting them is underneath the rear bench seat "probly mounted to the underside of the seat if there is a frame i can mount to. However i measured the distance under the seat at got about 8" under the front and then slopes down to 3" in the back. Has anyone attempted this? Or does anyone have any other ideas. I dont have any experiance in Subs so i dont even know if a 8" would fit....probably not if they are exactly 8" dia. do they make a smaller sub 6" or so?
im assuming you have a extended or full cab since you mentioned a back seat. and you could make a box but if you want it to just slap into place and then just have to worry about the wiring, id look into the jl stealthbox that fits under the rear seat, it has two 10's in it and sounds really nice, they also make one that can replace your center seat in the front with a 12 but that isn't reccomended if you use your middle seat to sit on as the sub provides little padding and its like sitting on a rock.
i know some sub sites have the dimensions listed for their products so if you are dead set on constructing a box yourself, then i'd reccomend going to a few sites and looking at the dimensions for the subs and seeing how much space they require and find what you can do that way, jsut remember if you do make the box yourself to always measure twice

i have thought about doing my own box for the rear (under the bench seat). but i tell ya that mtx makes a custom fit box with 2 10s and amp for about 500 bucks and you can order it color matched. so im waiting for a few other mods to get done till i get that. ive seen one done and it looked and sounded damn good.
thats the one, 429 with amp, better than buying it at the shop, i wa quoted $500 and more for install, but its easy enough i wonder what amp it is they send with it , i might have to call tuesday and get it now
Thanks guys! i dont love the look of that box but it did give me the idea "probably what everyone else was thinking just not me" originaly i was thinking about mounting the subs facing fowards.....but in that pre-made box it looks as though they are facing downwards which now that i think about it would allow for a lot more room "bigger subs". again thnx for the reply's
I put in an Infinity perfect 12 under the rear drivers side, this was accomplished by raising the seat with some steel 2x4's and longer bolts to hold the seat in place. I made the ported box myself and found the sub at simplycheap.com for about half the retail price.
