Default Head unit size question.

Hey guys. I just upgrade my stereo a little big. I had the stock AM/FM cassette player, and upgraded to a dinky little Sony cd player for now until I figure out something.

What size stereo do I need to fit in the dash? Double DIN? Right now, the one I got only takes up half of the hole in the dash for the player, with lots of space up top and some on the sides.

I was looking at something this size (http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/P...023267/c-10614), but I don't know if it's too big or not....

Anyway, any help would be greatly appreciated!

the space is actually considered a 1 an 1/2 DIN.

I have a dash adapter for a single DIN unit if you'd like it. I don't think there are any 1 1/2 adapters out there.

I'd just stick with a single DIN radio. A lot more choices.

Oh yeah...

Ditch that sony.

Another Alpine fan. I went with a single din one with the dash kit from Crutchfield. It's the way to go imo. I originally went with the dash kit that had the little cover below the radio that you could remove to put in a EQ or something and it just didn't fit exactly right so I ended up later changing to the one that holds the radio in the center of the hole. This imo is the way to go as it fits and looks good and still gives you lots of choices for a aftermarket radio since it's for a single din radio. You can't fit a double din without some custom work.
