Default 4x4

i have a 96 4x4 360 auto. live in az in winter. minn in summer. pull trailer back and forth. i do not need the 4x4 drive anymore. what would cost less to replace later spindles or axles. love truck do not want to trade but need gas mpg. have plasma torch.

Sell it, buy a 4x2 of the same year with the same engine. You'll make more than a few bucks profit and have 4x2 without any hard physical labor. 4x4s up here in Minnesota/South Dakota are worth a lot more $$$ than 4x2s.

You sound like a guy, a while back who wanted to change his 4x4 to a 4x2. If you want the gas milage buy a set of unlocking hubs, that would give you the same milage as changing to a 4x2, but wouldn't kill your resale value. Kits run between 800-1000 dollars. Depending on whether or not you have front abs or not
