Default New To Rams... Suggestions for mods

So I own a 2001 Intrepid Motorsports Edition. I live right in a snowbelt though, and that of course means lots of salt, so to preserve it I've gotten myself a 98 Ram for winter driving. I love modding the 'trep, and I was just wondering what sorts of mods there are available for Rams.

Anyone have experience adding things to their Ram that can share any helpful hints or guide me around some pitfalls when it comes to the differences between the cars?

I'd hate to assume all Dodge's work the same way and find out after i've torn the inteterior apart that they're VERY different animals.

Thanks for the help.

1st off welcome to DF

id try doing a cold air intake, i have a mopar circular air cleaner form summitracing.com, it works very well. Next i would put in a single in dual out exhaust system with a super 44 muffler. Then i would upgrade the ignition to all MSD. After that look on here for what you like and do it!

There are all kinds of things you can do. Are you looking for performance or appearance or what? I'd get some nice tint, a set of clear coners, dual exhaust with either Flowmaster 40 or super 44, round air cleaner, APS pleneum kit if you don't already have the pleneum issue fixed. Then maybe a stereo and some stuff like that to enjoy.

Mofifications to these trucks are very similar to your car... make it breathe better will help it out alittle.. ( Air Cleaner, TB, headers, hi flo exhaust..) If its 4X4, it wont be fast so dont try to make it a street machine,These are heavy trucks....2WD's can be sported out pretty nice for a truck. 5.9L ? or 5.2L ? Theres alot out there depending on what your into....looks, performance, off-road.

Thanks for the tips. I'll definitely consider the engine mods if I have enough money left over after school starts again. And what's this plenum issue I see mentioned? I'll go do a search now, but if anyone wanted to quickly elaborate it'd be appreciated.

It's a 2WD, which will mean I'll likely need some sandbags in the bed during the winter. I'm probably gonna paint it PR4 red, like my 'trep in my avatar. I love that color and someone at DI.net suggested I build myself a MSE Ram.

I do though, have an intrinsic hatred of bench seats and I heard there were center consoles for Rams, but I've never seen one. Even the new Rams at the dealership I work at all have bench seats with a fold down armrest bit where the center seat is. Then again, they're all quad-cabs and I've got a club.

I'm primarily looking for ways to turn it into something that looks nice, both inside and out. It's got some rust but that's nothing that can't be ground off and fiberglassed before I repaint it. As it's only going to get the crap kicked out of it by salt, snow, ice, and hauling things (such as the Trep, on occasion)-- I don't think it's too imperative that I maximize performance. That said though, if there's relatively cheap improvments that can help it out, I'd definitely be interested.

I've also attached a pic, if anyone cares to see what we're dealing with.

Also, thanks very much for the warm welcome.
