After hooking up the HIDs today, they only flicker, and won't turn on fully.

Turns out, after some reading, that HIDs usually only require 35w to run, but to start them up initially, they require more than standard bulbs. Well, from the instructions I've read, my switch must not be allowing enough power to get to the bulbs. They flicker like a strobe light, rather than igniting fully. Disconnecting one bulb helps the other, even got it to fully stay on once. But after a switch to high beams, or a switch off and back on, still flickers.

The obvious solution would be to use the relay trick and run power straight from the battery. However, after seeing how bright these are in my clear housings, I am rethinking my plan for HIDs. I think I am going to send it back. If I had projector lenses, perhaps this would be OK, but its just to bright without them I think. I want light out there, but I don't want to blind people in the process.

I have my hid's still, in my projectors and have never even been questioned about it, and I know another guy that had hid's put into his truck at a shop, his housings were aftermarket but were not projections and his still didnt seem to be all that bad, apparently with the halogen housings you just have to have the correct guard setup on it, such as the ones they run in the toyota prius and such. All I know is that my projections with the hid's are great and dont even glare up to the level of a cars windshield

Well, successfully got the headlights relayed today. Two 30A auto relays, some wires, and wow. They are more than a bit brighter now.

Have Tuesday off, so I will try tomorrow after work and Tuesday with the HIDs again. See if I can get them to work and if they are too bright.

Don't people a lot of times get bad hid kits that flicker? You sure it isn't those being bad?

BTW how did you wire up the relays? What all did you do with them? Any write ups? I wouldn't mind looking at once since the LMC harness didn't work.

Why, so you can screw up at installing this one as well?

I didn't screw up the install on the other one idiot. You can not possibly screw up the install on it. Apparently the kit is just crap and doesn't work with the foglights. I'm not the idiot that comes on here saying how everything that works great for every other member doesn't work and the stuff most others say doesn't work so well works awesome like you. Please explain to me how I screwed up the install of the LMC headlight harness since you know so much? It's basically just pnp and simply just doesn't work.

The kit seems to work fine as long as you don't have fog lights. I didn't manage to mess it up it apparently just either is a bad kit where something is wrong or isn't made to work with fog lights. Considering I just grounded it, connected it to a battery, and pluged in the plugs I don't see how in the world I could have messed it up and I've checked with my meter to make sure it's a good ground so I know that's not it. It obviously is the kit not how I installed it. You want to buy it from me and then you install it and tell me how it works?
