Default Tailgate DENT!

Well, my first dent. It is on the top of the tailgate, hit hard enough to gouge the paint. My question is would it be more economical to cap it off with either stainless steel or plastic and to fix the dent and have it painted? I'm leaning towards the caps, can anyone recommend a good brand name/website?

I made my rail caps out of 1/4 diamond plate aluminum....I would recomend it because they are incredably strong and covered up all my small dents/scratches and prevented any future ones....
Good Luck

K, further question, should I have the chip in the paint repaired before covering with the caps? Will it rust if I don't?
Thanks!

if you're going to cover it with bed rail, just sand it a little and spray some primer over it...no-one will see it, and the primer will be enough to protect from the rust.
