My father handed down his 98 Ram to me and is a few minor things I would like to fix.

(Automatic 1500 4X4 5.9L)

1. Whenever I stick the shifter into drive, sometimes it stays in Neutral until I hit it a few times, then it kicks into drive.

2. The vent controls sometimes randomly put themselves on defrost whenever it is set to A/C

Any help with the above?...Thanks!

P.S. I tried searching for the problems before creating this thread.

 

Number 1 sounds like a sticky linkage issue.
Number 2 is most likely a vacuum leak. Do a search for vacuum leak or defrost. There is tons of information on this problem as it is fairly coimmon.
