well my 98 ram laramie 5.9 auto is having some shifting problems. i checked the tranny fluid noticed it was a touch low, so i got more, topped it up and made no difference. 1st is shifting about 3500 rpm's. last summer we just replaced the tranny coolan rad (not specific term but you know) any ideas? thanks.

 

You might want to try a search on this forum first. There are so many posts on tranny issues that it is very likely someone has already discussed what you're looking for.

Does it not want to shift into 2nd under normal throttle, or under heavy throttle only? What changes have been made to the truck when this condition started and how long has this been going on?

 

just started a day or two ago, nothing’s been done to it during that time or anytime recently.
