Check ball or valve or whatever?

Thats how this forum is messed up. So basically is my transmission cooler totally installed wrong? Is that the check valve that blue fitting is connected to? How do I want to connect it if I took it out? It wouldnt have anything to screw the fitting into. Also what about the lower radiator line over the hose he was talking about.<\\;br>\\;<\\;br>\\;BTW are you guys members on Pavementsucks? I have a thread over there and maybe it would be easier to respond to since this site seems to be having lots of issues with the text right now.<\\;br>\\;
I do not have an aftermarket trans cooler on mine, so I was just assuming that the lines going to the radiator would be plugged! So the lines going to your radiator are going where ? And also where are the braided lines going to ? Maybe the lines from the radiator are capped off where they go into the trans.<\\;br>\\;
Anyways the lower line from the radiator goes into one of the metal lines that seem to run under the engine Id guess to the transmission but havent checked. The one next to the line with the blue fitting. You can see it with a normal hose on there and that comes straight out of the lower radiator line. That upper one looks to the be the hard metal one from the pictures but Id have to double check. You can see here the lower radiator line goes into the hard line next to where the braided line with the fittings on it is. <\\;a href="\\;http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...01.jpg"\\; target="\\;_blank"\\;>\\;http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...<\\;/a>\\; Im thinking the check valve got moved to the other line but not sure on that.
BTW, if you remove the check valve ,you need an adapter or the lines are cut and clamps are used. Like was done in some of your previous pics.&\\;nbsp\\; Mine is stock and there are no clamps.
Like I said, they have to be tee'd in somewhere for both lines to be working! Or one of them is blocked off at some point. \\; If that's how an aftermarket cooler works then I missing something. In theory if you do an add on and eliminate the lines from the radiator the truck should also run cooler because now the hot trans. fluid is not running through it adding to the temp of the coolant and vice versa.
I pulled that fitting apart where he said looked like the check ball and I could see right through it. Just kind of looked like a fitting they used but I'm not sure. I don't know what the check ball looks like but this you can see right through it and it looks hollow. you should see a ball inside the thing if it was the check ball shouldn't you?
Thats just a fitting on your return line , \\;\\\\\\; your inlet line going to the bottom of the rad is where the anti drain back valve would go.. Be a hell of a thing if it was on the return line since the anti drain back only flows one way... So the dude on PS is wrong.

two reasons why you should run thru the rad then the cooler
1. if you live in colder areas warms up the trans fluid up faster

2. going thru the rad helps to keep it cool along with the cooler

now you say wait a min how can that be , well antifreeze not only helps to warm up but also takes away heat , another words it will help to control the temp..

Now alot of people should let the anti drain back on cause not every one sits there in (N) and let the fluid flo .. so there are reasons for it being there , but if you take it out and let it sit in (N) For a few mins then there be no problems ....

So if you just fire it up and driveoff will it damage something? I try not to do it but there have been times when I have. I don't know if they have been after sitting a long time or not though. I guess that depends on how long. Also how long should I let it sit and warm up? Is just 2 or 3 minutes enough? Do I need to do this everytime I start it up or just when it has sat a few days at a time? What about if it sits overnight?

I've had mine off for several years, hasn't hurt a thing. I unscrewed it, found a brass adapter with the proper flared ends (male to female iverted flare) and screwed a nipple into the other end for the hose. It's always on the high pressure side and on my truck it's the lower of the two lines closest to the frame.
