Pros, more free HP and less parasitic drag on the WP and engine in general. one in front of your condenser can make the AC ice cold quickly.
Cons, you probably won't know they've failed until after your engine overheats, expensive in some cases.

Get the best ones you can afford. Get a shroud if you can swing it.

BTW, make sure you get a controller. I got the Flex-a-lite controller p/n 31165.

A shroud is a must.. it is not one of those "if you can swing it" parts otherwise your fan is about as useless as a wet paper bag.

Wrong dude, been running shroudless for a year (that sounds a little wrong ), never overheated. A shroud helps if you're underpowered on CFM's but if you're pushing plenty, you don't have to have it.

I will say this though; depending on how you have it connected to the rad, the shroud can be a better way to hang the fans

aim4squirrels, how do you have yours mounted?

I am replacing my radiator due to a split plastic tank after 155,000 miles mostly towing, and am curious if there is a way to test the fan clutch or if I should just replace it as well.

Thanks,
Tim

mine are mounted with zipties through the rad fins. They came with the fan and have a flat pedestal and a flat zip catch that connects.

Kinda hard to explain, but the fan brand is Proform. got a 16" and a 14"

Search the forum for testing fan clutch, it's an easy check but I can't recall the correct info as I haven't had it on in a year.

so if I wanted I can run a 14, 15 and use the origanal fan shroud on a 01 318 ram and have no problem.

If you can rig it up sure. I run the 16 as a puller and the 14 as a pusher on the front of the condenser. It's just how you wire it.
