i have an 01 ram, today i noticed a hose hanging from a little pump looking thing mounted on the passenger side of my front axle, does anyone know what this is, couldnt find any fittings for it, its lifted so it might be aftermarket

 

I'd guess that its probably just the breather tube. There is a cap for it so dirt and fluids and what not don't get into it and it usually mounts up on top of the fender in the engine comparrtment. The only tubes that go to the front axel that I can think of are that and two lines for the CAD housing. If those were disconnected your 4x4 woudln't engage but the indicator light will come on.
