Here are some shots from the other day when I towed the excavator for the second time. I looked up the stats on the excavator and it weighs 6,850 pounds. I'm sure the trailer weighed over 1,000 pounds as well. Truck did a magnificent job towing it the 15 miles. It went 70mph down the highway very effortlessly, I was really impressed. It's not something I usually do, my brother does the towing, but it's nice to know my truck can handle the mini excavators when need be. I have grown awhole new apprecation for the power of this truck since I've putten the 285s on this truck, love the 360.

Ya know what it wasn't bad at all, I was very suprised. The only thing that sucked was the brakes on the trailer sucked. Everytime I would begin accelerating, the brakes would release late and would pull on the truck for a second, other than that, no problems at all. It felt like it could do a lot more, but I wouldn't risk it.
Not sure on the break controller. Trailer was a rental and had breaks in it. I will get more shots though, I didn't really get any side shots. It handeled it as good as my brother's truck though, we were shocked
So you don't have a brake controller in your truck?Did the trailer have electric brakes or hydraulic? I'm assuming hydraulic since you said the brakes worked. If it was electic like a lot of trailers seem to be you have to use a brake controller that you plug under the dash to have brakes. They aren't that expensive like $60-100. I have one I bought off my uncle for $20 he barely used but have never had to use it.

Oh okay cool. I've never rented a trailer so didn't really know on rentals. Most people I know seem to have electric brakes on their trailers with the exception of one guy with a car trailer I know.
I bought the brake controller incase I ever need it. For $20 I couldn't pass it up. He used it once I know maybe a few more times but it seemed like new and I know he didn't use it much. I've pulled a few trailers with brakes for short distances where we left them unhooked. I bought it so if I did that again I could hook them up.

That trailer looks like it has hydraulic surge brakes, similar to what you see a lot on boat trailers. These would not use a brake controller even if you have one equiped, the controllers work with electric brake trailers.
