Default Tuning OBDI trucks for modifications?

Once I get all my maint up to snuff, I'm going to be adding a list of goodies. Including Longtube headers, true dual exhaust w/ X-pipe and Magnaflow mufflers, Customer ram air intake, and a few other small things.

How does one go about getting the PCM tuned for these mods? Is there anyone who tunes these truck computers or does customer burns for them? From my previous experience I know for a fact the engine won't be running at full potential until the PCM is tuned for the mods.

Any info is appreciated.

Tuners don't work on OBD-I unfortunately. You'r best bet it a Mopar Performance PCM. Start scanning Ebay. Make sure you get the exact same year, same engine, auto or manual Trans, security group, etc.

I called and asked Hypertech, and they said their stuff was ONLY for a stock engine. Try this link:

IDK if they do OBDI tuning or not,, but it's where I'm sending mine...

Damian , you should get the software and the adsl cable and program it yourself. I'm sure BG would provide support to help you out.

dont forget the fastman 50 or 52mm throttle body & the intake mod (cut the runners down). those two mods will help performance alot, the intake mod if done right will not hurt your low end and will give the motor more breathing in the upper rpms.

You can definitely do that, and it might be your best bet, but you'll have to send B&G the PCM to be flashed. I'd call ahead too just to be sure. The tuners that they offer for $650 are OBD-II compliant and they plug into the OBD-II port under the dash. Yours being OBD-I won't quite be the same.
