Chipping Truck, Fuel Pump Question
I will be putting a Edge Juice with Attitude on a 99 Cummins. I have heard some people claim you need to upgrade the fuel pump so it can keep up with the chip. But I don't really want to dump the extra cash into a new fuel pump as well if I dont have to. Can I hurt my truck by chipping it without an upgraded fuel pump? Can I run it chipped for a while and get the fuel pump down the road a few months?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.
nope, you'll have no problem. if you use the upper settings then yeah you may need a better lift pump to keep up with the edge. I ran the edge when I 1st got my truck and liked it, since then I Moved on to the TST...
Thanks Steve. So I take it, running it on the upper setting for short periods of time without the upgraded lift pump wont do any damage to my truck, it will just limit the power the upper settings can deliver?
Thanks again for the reply and for all of your hard work on these forums. I dont post much but the search function and the stickies have made life easier, and saved me a ton of time over the time ive owned this truck. Keep up the excellent work man, its appreciated.

happy to help... if you go up in the power you will slip your clutch or torque converter (and auto trans). use it sparingly. when I had my edge and I turned up the power, my tranny started slipping and I ultimately went with a heavy duty rebuild.
