NEED HELP WITH ENGINE SWAP
Hello all,
I am new and trying to get some information. I am currently in the process of purchasing a 99 Dodge Ram 4x4 with a bad motor. I don't know much about what fits what when it comes to Mopar. I have a line on a 92 318 and was wondering if it would work and what all can I expect to change? I have been told that it will work if I change the top end, heads intake and injection. Which will be fine if thats true, I will just swap out the 99 top end and put it on the 92. Someone please help.
Thanks Rob

RE: NEED HELP WITH ENGINE SWAP
Your better off getting a junkyard block and transfering good parts from your bad engine over. As for johnnyrocket5363's question. It's basically a direct swap. Everything outside of the block can be directly swapped as well as most of the top end. So swapping blocks will work well. The only thing that can't as far as I know is the whole rotation assemble you can't put a 318 assembly in a 360 or a 360 assembly in a 318. Other then that everything for the most part should work.

RE: NEED HELP WITH ENGINE SWAP
Thanks for all the help, seems like theres more people saying yes it will work than people saying no. The guy that has the 92 motor says it is fuel injected (TB), and he will throw in a top end off a newer 360 also. The 92 318 is suppost to run good and have 125k miles so I might give it a shot. He said I can have it all for $150 so its worth a shot. I was told that the 92 motor is OBD I but I'm hoping that doesn't matter because I'm swaping the top end. Anywho this thing might end up carburated by the time I'm done. Anymore feedback or help is appreciated.
