Default Headlights stay on

I have a 96 Ram 2500 5.9L 4x4 that two days ago the high beam blue light came on when I started the engine. The headlight switch was off. When I checked the headlights, they were on (I have one of those Canadian built rigs with driving lights), but even after I turned the ignition off the lights stayed on. The dimmer, headlight switch, parking brake, nor the ignition has any effect upon turning the headlights off. Removing the 40a fuse for the headlights/brakes in the fuse box in the engine compartment is the only wait to shut off the headlights. Then once the ignition is turned on I get a instrument panel light for the ABS and the parking brake even though the parking brake has been released and I even made sure the parking brake was fully up. All other fuses seem to be okay. I can't drive it because with the fuse out I have no brake lights and these good ole boys and gals in Alabama like to be able to read the small print on my bumper stickers.

Default RE: Headlights stay on

well i'm not sure about the daytime running lights, but i'd say either the headlight switch has gone bad and shorted in the "on" position, or the headlight relay in the pdc box had gone bad and stuck on. you should be able to trace power to/thru the switch to the relay. when the switch is on, it should send 12v and close the relay, which in turn sends power from the battery to the lights.
